The Jane Austen Book Club Part III

A sublime comedy of contemporary manners, this is the novel Jane Austen might well have written had she lived in twenty-first-century California.
In California’s Central Valley, five women and one man join to discuss Jane Austen’s novels. Over the six months they get together, marriages are tested, affairs begin, unsuitable arrangements become suitable, and love happens. With an eye for the frailties of human behavior and an ear for the absurdities of social intercourse, Karen Joy Fowler has never been wittier nor her characters more appealing. The result is a delicious dissection of modern relationships.
Dedicated Austenites will delight in unearthing the echoes of Austen that run through the novel, but most readers will simply enjoy the vision and voice that, despite two centuries of separation, unite two great writers of brilliant social comedy.

OK, call me an idiot. I didn't realize the movie was based off of a book.

I absolutely plan to read this now!!

Another to add to my growing Austen list!

The Jane Austen Book Club Part II

Yesterday's post was about The Jane Austen Book Club movie and it wouldn't let me comment on the post once I brought it over from Youtube!

I am going to write the review today.

I thought this movie was great.

Taking each book and reading them once a month and discussing them and comparing them to the ladies' modern day lives.

This was a brilliant cast and a wonderful story to be told.

This was the movie that helped to inspire my year of Jane Austen reading and growth.  I can feel and connect to it on a level that is deeper than any other movie I have ever seen.

This was another that I had borrowed from the library, but have in my Wish List from Barnes & Noble.

I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Jane...and talking about her books.
